MGC Consultancy Ltd. was created by Mercè Jané-Heidsiek (previously Mercè Garcia i Cervera), when she moved to England in 1998, after gaining several years of professional experience at the Consortium of Commercial Promotion of Catalonia, COPCA (currently ACCIÓ10); initially spending 3 years in the South American area before being promoted to the New Exporters, NEX programme, managing a group of over 30 consultants especialised in international trade and over 200 companies each year looking to start exports, hence providing them with promotional support, commercial advise and grants, reaching a total of over 1.000 companies within their internationalization.

MGC Consultancy Ltd. started in April 1998, as an international business consultancy, as per Mercè’s wide experience in this area and international trade, mainly providing commercial support and advice to private companies. In 2005, the company started cooperating with Aragon Exterior (AREX), as delegate for the UK & Ireland, as well as undertaking projects in Germany, the Scandinavian countries and the United States. Due to the extensive number of projects arising from the Spanish market, in 2009, MGC opened a branch in Spain, which provides a link between the head office in the UK and Spanish public institutions, trade associations and private companies in the implementation of their international strategies; starting with their marketing plans, market prospection, business agendas, personalised databases, exhibition at trade shows, as well as supporting companies whishing to establish a physical commercial presence (flagship, branch or delegation) in the United Kingdom and/or the Republic of Ireland.

In 1999, MGC Consultancy Ltd was appointed UK delegate for the Federació d’Industries de la Confecció de Catalunya, becoming steadily and greatly involved in the fashion business. In 2002, MGC was requested to become sole trade agent for a group of Spanish & Catalan manufacturers of ladieswear, hence the beginnings of MGC Fashion Agency. Since then, and thanks to a very reputable service and excellent sales record, many ladieswear manufacturers from Catalonia, Spain, Germany, France, as well as the UK & Ireland have requested for their collections to be added to MGC Portfolio. 

In 2003, MGC Consultancy Ltd. became involved in the interior design world by being appointed sole trade agent of a manufacturer of lifestyle interiors, textiles and accessories from Catalonia, reaching a customer base of over 250 top end accounts in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. However, due to the increasing growth of the fashion business, MGC decided to focus on the fashion and dissolved the lifestyle agency in 2005.

Due to many positive circumstances, in 2013 MGC decided to re-open the lifestyle & Interiors agency by creating LIDA, proudly representing some of the greatest contemporary collections of lifestyle and interiors in Europe.
